A symbol of light and messengers of summer, dragonflies are a sign of
good luck and freedom in many cultures. In Japan, dragonflies have
been emblems of emperors. The Zuni Indians believe a magic
dragonfly, made from corn stalks and straw, saved them from famine and
drought. The shimmering wings and colorful bodies of these
fast-flying creatures are a welcome addition to any garden.
