"The moon for all her light and grace has never learned to know her place...." from Robert Frost's poem, Two Leading Lights,  is written in thread on this work.

Artist Statement

With each day, the moon travels across the sky, pulling tides and reminding us of the universe just beyond. I chose the moon to show my goal of constant transformation… and my hands for how I create the image.

A quote from a Robert Frost poem is written at the top of the art quilt, “The moon for all her light and grace has never learn to know her place,” alluding to my father’s, “Do your own thing" mantra through my childhood years. I always had trouble accepting expected behaviors….

Many symbols of my life have been placed in word form as well as charms. Garden text scattered among the moonflowers apply to how I strive to garden as well as live life. Follow the beads shooting from my fingers and thumbs to more clues about me.
